Photography is all aout creating an image that pleases you and perhaps others. Yes there are some 'rules' that you can use to guide you or you may wish to ignore them, sometimes for great effect. As for the lightpole in this image, I think it makes the pic and it would have been far less appealing for the lack of it.

You seem to have a great eye for photography. This is a great shot with good repetition of shape on the side of the building. It's a shame about the street light sticking out at the top left. Can't be helped sometimes i suppose. Keep up the good work.
