Peace - Dove (3)

the dove - long a symbol of peace ... here a window of the castle in Burg Bentheim - taken in 2010 (as are the previous images)

the castle was first mentioned in 1050, was destroyed several times in the wars and always rebuilt. It is still owned by the Prince of Bentheim-Steinfurt who lives in the Steinfurt castle (Steinfurt - home of my sister :-)))

Thank you for your commitment and enthusiasm for photography, it is so inspiring. By the way we do have some Bentheim offspring here in Namibia. It was the custom of the old aristocracy to send their "black sheep" to the army, the so called "Schutztruppe" to German South West Africa (now Namibia). My grandfather was sent here as well!!! We have quite a number of von and zu in Namibia. Best wishes for 2014, love,cathy

A beautiful motif. And always there is the dove that will bring peace.
But the doves almost all over the world are increasingly displaced from the cityscape.
This makes me very thoughtful.

perfekt bis ins kleinste Detail. Eine großartige, künstlerische Arbeit, sehr schön von Dir präsentiert. Der Wunsch nach Frieden ist so alt wie die Menschheit. Hoffen wir, daß die Welt bald wieder etwas friedlicher wird. Ich denke aber, daß jeder im kleinsten Kreis dazu beitragen kann.

the hope for peace will always prevail, even though universal peace on earth will probably never come – we are a quarrelsome species… just like the dove, by the way! so it's really not as ironic as one would think, that mankind chose it as a symbol of peace… birds of a feather… ; )) but what a beautiful stained glass window this is! reminds me of a mandala, and i love the interaction between the dove and the woman holding it! hugs and have a nice trip into the new year, dear adele! sabine
