Ramana – two renditions/ I / Birkenhead/UK
>text in english as the Ramana and her mother are British/ discussion in any language but I will only understand german or english
In some ways these two pictures pretty much sum up my work up to that point. I started out to work exclusively in BW and with available light. I changed over time. The flash as support was welcome and to portrait with colour was introduced. So it's not about which picture is better than the other. They both are about the same child and two moments of her life. The locations are quite far from eachother, one in Birkenhead (near Liverpool) and the other in my hometown Bremen.
24 mm, my last bits of Agfa APX 25, ID-11, flash support (alas, no framing was done), print on colour paper, scanned.

Hello Carsten and hello Ramana (in case she has access). You've made to extraordinary pictures of her. I very much do appreciate the context of the pictures and the expression on her face as well your point of view. It's hard to say which one i prefer - both are in their own way unique and create in fact a whole.Johannes

this one is absolutely lovely...the seemingly shabby location in contrast to her adorable smile, the movement of her hair...! great. (normally i don't get as touched by child portraits, but this is one which i cannot stop looking at.. ;))Björn Grimm 09/04/2005 9:30
what picture is better than the other one... is absolutly not the question... a long time i look for the moments of her life and be sure your pictures are a album of her childhood... differently from all the other kidi-albums! that`s the theme... hope you understand my terrible denglish :O)
