Restaurant by Night. Mingalaba All!!
Hello My Family and Friends!!
Firstly let me inform you all of my whereabouts.
I am in Yangon Myanmar (Rangoon Burma).
I have covered a lot of ground in two weeks, I left Ravenshoe, Far North Queensland by car with a friend, celebrated my birthday in Cairns for three days,.
Left Cairns by air to Ayres Rock, from there I flew to Perth and met with my friend Peter who joined me on the flight from Perth to Phuket and onto Bangkok
and my friend Pongsri arrived in Bangkok at 4.30 am.
Peter then travelled to China, while Pongsri and I flew on to Chiang-Mai for the Royal Flower Show.
Then back to Bangkok and onto Yangon Myanmar.
My friend Pongsri and I were met by F.C. Member Thu Nyo and his charming and beautiful wife, Dr. Myo, a specialist in the field of rehabilitation medicine.
The four of us headed for one of the many local restaurants for a scrumptious Burmese breakfast and then to our quaint hotel, which is fully decorated throughout
with hand carved Burmese Teak furniture.
Along the road, I realised that of all the countries I have visited in South East Asia that were once part of Siam, it was more evident here in Myanmar.
This will become evident as I upload some of the pictures I have taken here.
The country and People are so different from those of Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam.
My friend and I were honoured to be invited by Thu, as guests to the most spectacular restaurant I have ever set eyes on in my entire lifetime, known as the
Karaweik Restaurant.
A massive doubled hulled seafaring vessel built on a lake, the restaurant is built between the hulls and is several stories high, don't miss it if you are visiting Yangon.
We enjoyed very fine Burmese cuisine and a spectacular stage presentation of traditional dancing with very colourful costumes of brilliant flowing satin.
The delicious meals here are rather-more fashioned around the Indian style of curries, rather than the Thai style.
We have been having a wonderful time here and although Thu is a very busy fellow in his field as a Petroleum Engineer, he has taken timeout each and
every day, to take us to places of great interest followed by a new dinning location each night.
We will be returning to Thailand on Saturday, for a tour of the South, but will return here in the future to see more of this very beautiful and interesting country.
As far as Internet, I am not able to connect that often, but that will change after my tour of the South of Thailand, when I will return to Udon Thani, there I should
have a high speed connection for a considerable length of time and will be able to connect to Skype once more.
Next I will have to do a Laos border run for an extension of my visa and then return to Udon Thani for some well deserved rest.
I hope that you are all well and enjoying life to the fullest.
Best wishes to you all out there.
Will upload some of my Yangon photo's till I am able to upload again.
