Safe refuge
In ancient Greece the interior of a church (temple) sanctuary was the safest refuge and any persecuted, immediately after setting foot in it, was out of the reach of law.

the reverance and awe can be strongly felt in this image! it silences me, impresses me and makes me feel small, humble and, to a degree, sheltered. while the dark browns and grave weightiniess of the interior tend to dwarf and intimidate me, my solace lies entirely in the intricate light, the liquid shine of the mirror* and the life-embracing red of the reflections of the censers!! greetings, sabine-----------------------------------------------------------------------
*i'm trying to identify the source of that powerful mirror – is it some kind of marble on the floor? water?? not sure exactly where it's coming from, so, for me, that adds a little mystery to the sacred feel of the place!

A place of safety and of great beauty, a place where one can commune with your God and make peace with yourself.A truly beautiful scene that encompasses the Holliness of this place with all of its reflections and priceless artifacts.

a very ornate church interior with so many details .... indeed a place for seeking inner peace yet also a bit overwhelming for some people I could imagine ... a fine capture, the difficult light well handled - great reflections too !!!greetings, Adele

excellent realization of an interior of the Church, rich in precious details, evocative atmosphere, beautiful color tones, the photo is wonderful, also great reflexes,(I prefer a more sobriety in places of worship)
