I’ve used only DSLR for 5 years, and as a matter of fact, I’ve underestimated compact cameras. (It’s because I’ve considered that their features such as image quality, functions, and start-up time are not good enough.) However, while I used ST50 for about a week, it changed a lot. (I realized that a compact camera also can produce good quality photos. And even though it doesn’t support manual mode, the built-in functions help express intended pictures.)

I’d like to say that the biggest strength of this product is excellent portability and stylish design. Small size that fits into one hand, stainless steel cover, hair line and glossy coating will satisfy the users who prefer small and beautiful thing. Also, its offers strong additional features like 3200 ISO, 3x optical zoom, DIS and Image Stabilization function for movie recording.

It is very impressive that it’s equipped with Smart mode that enables beginners to use the camera. With Smart mode setting, inside or night shots, where it is hard to guarantee shutter speed, could express clear images as well as in outdoor shots. Also, perfect face detection such as Beauty shot, Blink detection, and Self-portrait gave me satisfaction for portrait shots. (If beginners had to set ISO, exposure, etc by themselves, they easily got worn out. But Smart mode of ST50 sets everything automatically, so it will help them a lot.)
