Sea fans under the water

Sea fan, (known as Gorgonia), are members of a genus of invertebrate marine animals of the suborder Holaxonia. It is a variety of soft coral composed of numerous polyps - cylindrical sessile forms - that grow together in a flat fanlike pattern. The polyps spread out their tentacles to form a plankton-catching net. In most cases the fan-shaped colonies grow across the current, which increases their ability to ensnare prey.
There are about 500 species of Gorgonia, and they differ markedly in their branching patterns. All, however, grow to approximately 60 cm in height. Sea fans are found in the shallow waters of all oceans like this in the Burmesian waters.
