following a series of dj mix compilations, the hungarian born “chaud-master“ corvin dalek presents his debut artist album "i am a dalek". seducing and converting many young clubbers along the way, his controversial and saucy sound drenches and drives the dancefloors delirious from asia to south america, from the united states to the uk and all over europe. performing his unique style of wet&hard, the pioneer of this refreshing and groundbreaking genre removes his mask and truly reveals himself. wet&hard - the seductive sound of new europe - is not just about sex, fast pumping basses, or pornographic provocation. it is about freedom of thought, freedom of expression, the need for diversity and the beauty of individuality: the underlaying message of this album. it exhibits new insights into corvin dalek‘s musical development and explores his uniqueness as a musician and artist. "i am a dalek" was recorded in the inspiring and futuristc metropolis of berlin. the ideal location, being the mediator between old and new europe. and like europe, this album presents a mixture. the album begins with "things to cum" - a bass-synth oracle loaded with suspense and surrounded by a soundscape reminiscent of classic sci-fi. the bass encounters corvin‘s calm instructions: an introduction to relax and reveal yourself. as the album gradually opens, a second bass guitar emerges enhancing the atmospheric tension. as the riff steadily becomes more defined, it exposes the throbbing title track "i am a dalek". the thrusting bass will thrill you and leave you breathless: absorbed into the bloodstream of the album. by the time the massive breakdown in mr sam‘s classic remix of “pornoground“ hits home, you are nearly 20 minutes into the album. it isn’t all punching and pounding beats though. a welcome change in direction is briefly provided by an abstract orgy of digital playgrounds pornstars, live percussion and basses, played by the delicious bassgirls. always eager to share, corvin features his highly acclaimed collaborations with flesh artists: fidelity kastrow, eiven major, jan kessler, mr sam or co-producer mark reeder. corvin dalek: "i didn't want to work alone, i wanted to share a piece of myself with this album. working together with these young and talented artists was so much more fun. it was very refreshing and inspiring" album highlights include the potential gay anthem "i like it 69" a collaboration together with flesh fledgeling fidelity kastrow. the title of this track literally says it all. simultaneously very sweet and very dirty, the provocative lyric twists around the kick-ass-throbbing-bassline while fidelity's angelic voice oozes with gutter humour. fidelity also appears after the climax of the album and really whips it up with the deeply emotional "mtw - manchmal tut es weh" (sometimes it hurts). entirely in german, it is a highly personal track where the expression overshadows the clandestine message lurking within the song. here corvin shows another side of himself. even if you don‘t understand the lyrics, this soul searching and melancholic mother father of a track will transmit the flogging message with heavy duty drums and electrifying guitars. corvin dalek: "i wanted this album not only to express my own wet&hard sound. i wanted to expose myself. you can peer deeeep into my soul." fans certainly won’t be disappointed to find the eagerly awaited and obsessively demanded track "young people" on the album. not to mention corvin‘s club classic "pounds&pénz" remixed by top french producer mr sam, who also makes a brief vocal appearance on "ménage à trois". both tracks feature an expressive gutteral bass performance by inspiral carpets‘ legendary bald-headed bassist martyn walsh. the album tracks literally melt together. composed and produced to neatly slip into each other, lubricated with already exsisting singles. only towards the final climax, the last few tracks were mixed in the traditional dj way. corvin dalek: "this album was a very challanging piece of work. mark and i wanted to make it sound like a modern pornfilm soundtrack. it’s a complete trip. i wanted to define my wet&hard sound as a whole and at the same time, interlock some of my original singles. they had to fit like a flesh tuxedo. i want young people to be able to listen to it anywhere. in the club, at home, in the car, on a walkman and more importantly: i want people to get off on it." with a final burst of energy, the album closes with corvins reminiscant version of crystal. this much debated and highly controversial track features the instantly recognisable vocals of new order frontman bernard sumner on this special mix of corvin’s original version. corvin dalek: "after all the pump & grind, i decided to give my album a happy end, live out my inspiration and reflect on my musical influences a little. i think this version of crystal does it all.". i am a dalek is a must for all dirty boys and dirty girls!
