Silhouettes in Joshua Tree National Park

Joshua Tree National Park is a special place. Native tribes such as the Pinto and Cahuilla have hunted and gathered from this southwestern land for hundreds of years. President Theodore Roosevelt designated it a National Monument in 1936, and in 1994 it was redesignated a National Park. Today, visitors come from all over the world to hike, camp, climb and explore the desert landscape that native peoples believe we are born from. To me, this photo is emblematic of our connection to the land.
