São Paulo Ballad 6

Drinks served by a beauty of deep southern tan
Brazilian cigars, Caipirinha, and Chopp.
Talking French with a Portuguese Gentleman
And having a vodka with an Aussie named Bob.
How can I keep distance in a vortex like this,
When they dance and they sing at the top of their voices,
And celebrate life, with a hug and a kiss?
You forget all the dark sides, when São Paulo rejoices.

But leaving the bar-room it is all back again.
A man tries to sleep under cardboard and rags.
Some stand, passing bottles in he drippling rain
You know you can't trust them, and don't turn your back.
They are calling those quarters a neighbourhood
But neighbours are not what you find in those places.
You hardly take notice, let alone do them good,
They're just people, who fill in the empty spaces.
