Sprengisandur is a highland plateau in Iceland located in the central region between 2 glaciers, called Hofsjökull and Vatnajökull.

It is only accessible during summer because of the weather conditions.
It is an ancient pass and was (ca.930-1265) a shortcut from the south to the north of the island.
