Streetcar Summer

When Throwback Thursday is also the first day of summer...

This photo, at the Baltimore Streetcar Museum (*), takes me back to childhood summers in Baltimore.

It is a Peter Witt type streetcar, and the type was still running on the streets of my home town,
alongside of the more modern PCC type cars, when I was a wee sprout. I remember riding on these,
going downtown to shop at the big department stores with my Mom. Back then, Baltimore had a
quite extensive network of streetcar lines crisscrossing the city and reaching far into the suburbs.

The summer connection? The sign on the front of No. 6119 refers to two very popular
Baltimore amusement park destinations in summer - Carlins Park and Gwynn Oak Park.

Cotton candy, anyone?
