Summer Afternoon on the Susquehanna
The broad Susquehanna River at Havre de Grace, near the
headwaters of the Chesapeake Bay in northeastern Maryland...
A perfect, low humidity afternoon in early summer, and a good
spot indeed for summer pastimes, whether fishing or train watching.
In 2016, as Amtrak's AEM-7 electric locomotives were nearing the end of their careers pulling
high-speed trains along the Northeast Corridor, awaiting retirement and replacement by the
new ACS-64 "Sprinter" locomotives (*), I sought to capture these machines. while it was still
possible, in some favorite settings along which they had pulled their trains.
Here, a pair of AEM-7s power an Amtrak Northeast Regional train in the direction of Baltimore and Washington.

The color of the umbrella takes my eye off the train. A different crop might remove the bright colors and get the viewers eyes to the train.Regards, Archie
