Swamp of ice and snow (2)

Due to the local sub-alpine micro climate, there was, 3 weeks long, day and night continuous frost and a snow carpet of 45 cm. on 'Hohes Venn', the greatest and oldest National Park of Belgium and the most unique nature biotope in the land (altitude: 694 meters above sea level)

Under the great mass of snow lies a whole area of vast and desolate swamps.

My shot was made 9 days ago on the last cold frosty day over there. The melting of the snow started the next day (and is still going on, snow depth today : still 14 cm.)

Location : Mont Rigi (Hohes Venn, Belgium)

A spectacular view on these swampland, which is sunk into the snow. Excellent image segmentation by the hiking trail that leads through the ice.
Very nice with the litter of the shadows.
