Take your garbage and rubble elsewhere in Osterburg, March 30, 2011
No. 2 in this short series of "garbage tipping prohibited" photos. It was taken west of an estate of detached houses, the so-called "Stadtrandsiedlung", to the west of Osterburg, a town with about 11,000 inhabitants located in the eastern part of the Altmark region in Germany. The estate was slightly more upmarket than the monotonous concrete blocks which desecrated and still desecrate the southwestern approach to the town.
Until the mid-1970s a small branch railway line from Osterburg to Storbeck and Klein Rossau ran past here; maybe the sign was erected in order to prevent passengers tossing their rubbish out the window during the journey.
Maybe not quite as primitive as the sign in Diesdorf, but the (just about identifiable) lettering used at the top of the sign was typical GDR style in the 1970s.
