The Fungi World (121) : Saffron Ringless Amanita

The Saffron Ringless Amanita is a fungus with a sweet smelling odour that can be found from mid-summer until autumn, mostly in grassy forest clearings.

However, it’s a very rare fungus standing high on the Red List of strongly vulnerable and threatened species !

Dutch name : Saffraanamaniet
German name : Safrangelber Scheidenstreifling (auch Orangegelber Streifling genannt)
Latin name : Amanita crocea

I have been looking forward to your beautiful fungi, Mark ... a lovely one here, perfectly lit, great sharp details ... and I like imagining the animal that has taken a little bite out of it.
    cheers, Adele
