The Fungi World (211) : Wrinkled Crust
If you see this picture for the first time, you might think that this is hot volcano lava dripping from rocks.
Not so. It’s a beautiful crust fungus with a colourful, almost fluorescent, wrinkled surface.
This fungus likes to grow on the bark of dead deciduous trees, especially beech.
Dutch name : Oranje aderzwam
German name : Orangeroter Kammpilz
Latin name : Phlebia radiata

Welch herrliche Farben!!! Wunderschön leuchten diese Farbnuancen dieser so eigenwillig wachsenden Pilze!
Schärfe, Licht und Bildschnitt sind einfach Klasse...

volcano? nah, greedy me thought you had finally gotten lucky and struck a gold vein in a rock! i was already trying to come up with a plot to trick you into telling me about its whereabouts, when i read your explanatory words – shoot, what a disillusionment! i blame adele oliver, of course, who, with her latest "wanted" upload, put me in this reckless western outlaw mood! ; )). it's really a beautiful fiery sight, your fungus here, mark – i give you that! still, i'm a little disappointed here because one cannot live by fungus alone… ; ))) desperado greetings, sabine.Brigitte Lucke 12/11/2013 15:28
