The Hooker Cut
(looking west) in Pulaski County, Missouri was one the deepest rock cuts on Route 66 and became part of the major alignment in 1940. It remained in use until it was replaced by I-44 some 30 years later. I am somewhat partial to this stretch of the road, for had it not been for Route 66, I would not be here - my mother and father met on Route 66 about 25 miles down the road.
