The Island of Ikaria_2, Greece...

The island of Ikaria is not the most outstanding of islands in Greece, is mountainous and wild, lacking in what most tourists are looking for, sparkling beaches, a lively and modern nightlife and gourmet food. In many parts of the island the nature is gorgeously unruly and vibrantly orgiastic, and that’s probably one of its greatest attributes. Ikaria is rather unsophisticated in its cultural scene, there are very few museums or galleries, and no international festivals for art lovers lovers. So why is it so popular, so trendy, so beloved worldwide? The island is pretty much like a mountain emerging from the sea, and what is unique about it is its free-thinking people, with an individualistic and humbly creative local identity, who have effectively created a world unto themselves.
The landscape is one of the peaks, over 900 metres, of Mount Atheras (highest peak 1042m), at the southwest area of the island, near Langada, the old capital of Ikaria…11th June, 2017
