      The statue was made by alfred munnings - the famous painter of horses, (and of cavalry - particularly in world war 1).

    I think that the silhouette of the statue works very well here keeping it a bit mysterious...is this the statue you mentioned thus evening?

      Absolutely. It's one of the most sombre objects that I have ever seen in a church. And, it's big. It is a pool of sadness in that corner of the church. The combination of the light illuminating the bare, golden stone, and the black, empty silhouette was striking.
