The new postcard - Die neue Postkarte

Die "neue Postkarte von Sao Paulo" soll nach dem Willen des Magistrats die Brücke über den Pinheiros Fluß werden. (Links der "offizielle" Standpunkt) Das 233 Millionen R$ (ca. 80 Mio. Euro) teure Bauwerk verbindet die wohlhabenderen Wohngegenden der Megacity mit den Geschäftsvierteln und wird, so hoffen die Planer zumindest, die alltäglichen Staus verkürzen. Für Busse, auf die die meisten Arbeiter angewiesen sind, wird die Brücke allerdings gesperrt sein, um die PKWs nicht zu behindern... Auch die Sache mit der "Postkarte" ist, wie man rechts sieht, eine Frage der Perspektive. Aber wer verirrt sich schon "unter die Brücke", wo das Leben ein bißchen weniger elegant ist...
Für mich ist die Perspektive rechts das Symbol für Sao Paulo, die Stadt der Widersprüche.

The 233 million R$ (ca. 80 Mio. Euros) building connects the wealthier neighbourhoods of the mega-city with the business quarters to shorten the daily traffic-jams (that is at least what the planners hope). For buses, however, which are - apart from walking - the regular means of transportation for the workers, it will be closed, not to encumber the faster cars... And the postcard-thing is a question of perspective as well, as one can see to the right. But who would want to take a look "under the bridge", where life is a bit less elegant...
For me the perspective to the right is the metaphor for Sao Paulo, the city of contradictions.
