The Rapture
Two murals titled The Rapture in Madrid, in which a stocky minotaur kidnaps a horse, first takes it under his arm and then carries it on his back. The two scenes are figurative, in sepia tones. JAZ, the street artist, has long been inspired by his native Latin American culture and its chaotic history, as it relates to his own personal life. His dynamic and colorful images of muscular figures, hybrid animals and mythological beings are often used as stand-ins for the different and overlapping societies that he has observed throughout his career, and as a Mexican-Argentinean artist.
Franco Fasol, alias JAZ, is an Argentina street artist born in Buenos Aires in 1981. He studied ceramic art and theatre scenography but since 2008 he has been actively involved in creating inspirational murals. His art is mainly large walls with a theme of either wrestling or some sort of conflict. Recently he has switched into animals and he usually uses a patern of repetition or a mirroring technique. He has attended numerous festivals around the world and his work is considered highly influential in the global street art community.
