Tram at Twilight
In the twilight of a late December afternoon, the north cabin of New York's
Roosevelt Island Tramway descends into the Roosevelt Island Terminal.
During the 3-to-4 minute ride, along the north side of the Queensboro Bridge, its passengers have enjoyed, for the
price of a MetroCard swipe, dramatic Blaue Stunde views of the midtown Manhattan skyline (*) and the East River.
In this tele-compressed view from Manhattan's Midtown-East, one can see a bit of the
West Channel of the East River, which separates Roosevelt Island from Midtown Manhattan.

(*) The view is quite thrilling when twilight gives way to night as well,
as in this photo taken during a trip to Manhattan in a previous December.
