Tribeca

Tribeca is a neighborhood in Lower Manhattan, just north of the financial district and
World Trade Center. The name derives from “Triangle Below Canal (Street).”

It is a motif-rich area for photography, which I first began exploring in 2013 and again the following year. While I shot extensively at street level while
taking in the neighborhood, this image really says “Tribeca” to me as it shows not only the old loft buildings that share the real estate with high-rise
apartments along the Hudson, and the lush roof gardens, but -- especially -- the profusion of those iconic wooden rooftop water tanks.

My vantage point was my room on the top floor of the Tribeca Grand Hotel, which was grandly
cooperative when I requested a high-level room with good sight lines for shooting.
