Watchtower of the Great Wall
Estimated up to 25,000 such towers were integrated into the wall, and that 15,000 additional signal towers should ensure communication with the capital.
Today, the watchtowers serve as a resting place for visitors and wall climbers, because it has a cool shadow place inside. Earlier, the watchpots looked into the landscape and gave signals. By a fire on the tower, on which an opponent was sighted, neighboring watchtowers could be informed. This was made possible by the distance from the towers, which could then transmit the warning by means of fire signs.
Today (numerous) video cameras watch over the visitors on the wall.
