While Daedalus soars above...
Aero Train station, B-Concourse, Midfield Terminal
Washington Dulles International Airport
The underground trains, which connect the Main Terminal with Concourses A, B, and C,
run on rubber tires under the busy taxiways, arriving and departing from the lower level.
From train level, two flights of escalators ascend through this airy atrium to the departure gates (the top of a jetway can be seen at upper right).
By the way, if you remember getting around at Dulles pre-subway, those iconic mobile lounges are still
traversing the taxiways. They are now used primarily to bring incoming international travelers from the
midfield arrival terminal to the main terminal. You may see some of them by clicking on the photo below.

i'm glad it's daedalus soaring above and not his son! if it were the allter, i'd either avoid washington dulles airport altogether, or else make sure i'd be wearing a helmet at all times, especially when riding the escalators, because if it were him, that reckless little punk of a sun-seeking son called icarus, i'd expect him to come crashing down any second – safety first, or, as we germans like to say: vorsicht ist die mutter der porzellankiste! ; ) greetings, sabine. p.s.: love the elaborate light, the surprisingly relaxed ambience and the warm ivory/cream tone-on-tone feel of the image!gemblue 03/11/2014 0:49
Airports and Train Station always marvel me, as I maneuver through them finding my correct path to my correct platform or lounge,Your capture shows the multitude of ways to go, and the intricacies of airport architecture.
