This Yak was built in 1993 and his first owner was Gunnel Aviation, Santa Monica, California, USA. In 1997 was sold to Brent Hisey and registered as N338Y.

Since 2007 flew by Meier Motors in Freiburg, Germany and registered is D-FYGJ. Wears marking of General Major Georgiy Zakharov, commander of 303. IAD (fighter air division) from 1944 (his Yak worn nr. 1).

General Major Zakharov claimed 10 victories and holds the Gold Star of the Hero of the Soviet
