Sobre mi
Originally from the Netherlands, where I was an acitve member of the LAVF (amateur photoclub in Leiden), I moved to Tokyo in april 2006. As I have the luxury of not having a full time job in Japan, I have lots of free time to explore and take pictures.
My field of interest is street photography and I like to take pictures of people doing their own thing, without making them pose. I also like to get as close as I can, because I think it gives my pictures a more intimate feel. I therefor don not like to use too much zoom and prefer not to use flash.
My camera is a Nikon D70, which I got upgraded to D70s at the Nikon service centre in Tokyo for free! The lens I use is an AF-S Nikkor 18-70 ( 1:3.5-4.5) lens. I also use an AF Nikkor 70-300 (1:4-5.6) lens when it is not possible to get close-up pictures any other way, but I think I use that lens less than 2% of the time.
Occasionally I use a Sony cybershot TC-1 as it fits in any purse and it's very anonymous. Lately however I tend to use it less and less, as I can make better quality pictures with the Nikon...
I hope you will enjoy my pictures as much as I like taking them, but please feel free to comment, as I do miss the sessions at the photoclub to keep me on edge.

I chose the maneki neko (lucky cat) as my alias, as I feel very lucky to be able to live in Japan.
