A young girl that should be in school learning is stands on a boat hanging laundry in the hot weather to dry. Often these are family business. When the work is their, all other responsibilities begin to make much needed money. Now is not the time to dream of the ball.

Even in this day and age of prosperity [for some] it seems to be the fate of many children to work rather than be able to go to school and learn. Maybe one day she will go to the ball :))
