Columbus Tower --- San Francisco Financial District

In nördlichen Teil des Financial District von San Francisco steht der Columbus Tower, ein Gebäude welches 1907, ein Jahr nach dem großen Erdbeben von San Francisco, fertiggestellt wurde. Damals noch Sentinel Building genannt, wurde es erst von einem lokalen Politiker bewohnt, wurde später zu einem Nachtclub, einem Musik-Studio und ist nun der Sitz einer Filmproduktionsgesellschaft namens American Zoetrope. Damit hat dieses Haus eine der längsten Geschichten der Stadt und wird immer noch gerne von Touris besucht. Außerdem hat es ein schönes Café!

In the northern part of the Financial District of San Francisco stands the Columbus Tower. It was finished in 1907, one year after the big earthquake in San Francisco. Originally named Sentinel Building it was used for a lot of different things. First, it was the home of a local politician named Abe Ruef, then it was a night club named “hungry i”, then it was inhabited by a music studio and since 1972, it is the headquarter of the film studio American Zoetrope. Hence, it has one of the longest and most turbulent histories within the entire city which still attracts a lot of tourist every year. Also, it has a nice lil’ Café on the ground-floor!
