A 65 kilómetros de San Salvador de Jujuy, se halla el "Pueblo de la Tierra Virgen", traducción del vocablo aymara Purmamarca, una vistosa aldea circundada al norte por el Río Purmamarca, y hacia el sur por los cerros que conforman la quebrada que lleva el mismo nombre. La pequeña población de 339 habitantes adquiere una atracción especial porque se encuentra en la base de imponentes y majestuosos cerros multicolores. Sus construcciones pertenecen al siglo XVII, lo que brinda una visión interesante de su origen prehispánico.

A 65 kilometers from San Salvador de Jujuy, is the "People of the Virgin Land", translation of Aymara Purmamarca, a colorful village surrounded to the north by the River Purmamarca, and southwards through the hills that make up the ravine that leads the same name. The small village of 339 people acquire a special attraction because it's on the basis of imposing and majestic multicolored hills. Its buildings belong to the seventeenth century, providing an interesting insight into his pre-Hispanic origin.
