End of a Productive Day - B-17 "Aluminum Overcast"

The end of a perfect autumn afternoon of carrying passengers above
the Virginia countryside and posing on the ground for photos…

WW2-era B-17 Flying Fortress “Aluminum Overcast” taxis
up to the ramp after her last flight of the day.

This lovingly maintained piece of living history
called at Manassas Regional Airport on this autumn weekend.

A little taxiing music please, Maestro Miller…

A mighty taildragger with her four giant radials. ( I hear that noise). She carries the colours of the 398th Bomb group that was very busy from 1944 on over Germany with many "visits" to Kiel, Munich, Saarbrücken and Münster.
The aircraft on the photo was produced after the end of the war in Europe and did not see active service any more . She spend a civil life and maybe this is the reason why we can still see her flying today.
Beautiful photo of that B 17
    greetings,
    Jost
