i favor this one over the other, as i find it even more powerful. the almost icy cool of the water, the wood – like the remains of a ship's hull or the giant fossilized skeleton of a whale – a little further off in the distance, the water streaming by, the wistful mystique of the scene… it all adds a sense of "dynamic awe" to the shot! greetings, sabine. p.s.: both shots are terrific, though. when i first looked at them, caspar david friedrich's "eismeer" popped up in my mind… http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sea_of_Ice
