Lyme Regis - the pearl of Dorset. The beach is so named because the Duke of Monmouth landed here in 1685 to wrest the crown from King James II. Monmouth Beach stretches for a kilometre south-west of the Cobb Wall. This beach is bordered by holiday cottages and beach huts.
