Tenos is a tiny Cycladean island with more churches than trees...It is called the island of Virgin Mary with an imposing church dedicated to her that also houses her Holy Icon.
In the photo a shot of the island's typical landscape with one of the many monasteries (not the one housing the Holy Icon).
See how the poor locals try to profit from every bit of fertile land creating those small farms on the rocky slopes.

An excellent picture that tells us how the local people literally scratch a living from this rocky place. A testament to their tenacity and hard work in order that they can live.
