Monemvasia 2
The midieval remnants of the historic Monemvasia stand like ghosts among houses in Peloponesos (South Greece) to remind that the town, built and fortified with castle and walls on a rock in the sea, once had been a thriving Byzantine site and longing prize for attacking ennemies...The old Byzantine church is St George.

Friendly

an image about time itself! rocks of different eras form this unique landscape, or should i rather say "cityscape"? age-old stairs, medieval ruins, lived-in houses, weathered rocks with reproachful faces ; ) – all side by side in one place – fascinating! eventually, time will turn even the last houses into dust. it's the ways of the world. ashes to ashes, rocks to rocks ; ) – the thought that originally popped up in my mind, when first clicking on the shot! an image so full of stories and history, that i could linger forever, exploring the details! love the picturesque little rock archway leading over the ancient stairs! greetings, sabine.Sue Thompson 10/10/2013 8:05
It never ceases to amaze me how and why they should build in such places, This picture shows such detail, an amazing place very well taken.:))
