Moynihan Train Hall - No.1
United States Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan's long-held passion for bringing back a proud station space for travelers entering New York via Amtrak's Northeast Corridor, as well as commuters arriving on the Long Island Railroad, has been realized in the impressive sweep of skylight glass and massive trusses, which combine to evoke, in a tasteful, contemporary style, the grandeur that existed before the original Pennsylvania Station was torn down, leaving only a congested and often confusing underground warren of low-ceilinged passageways.
This new point of entry was created within the James A. Farley Post Office building, across
Eighth Avenue from the original station, which sits above most of the platforms of Penn Station.
