Während der männliche Schwan schwimmend vor dem Nest patrolliert, kümmert sich die Schwanenmutter liebevoll um das Wohlergehen ihre zukünftigen Kinder. Damit die Eier beim Brüten weich gebettet werden, kleidet sie das große Nest mit ihren eigenen Federn aus.
