Night Trains - No. 3 - Amtrak Crossing the Susquehanna
An Amtrak Northeast Corridor train streaks across the Susquehanna River Bridge
between Havre de Grace and Perryville, Maryland on its way toward New York.
This impressive and very long bridge (*), originally built by the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1906, spans
the Susquehanna at a wide point as it is about to enter the headwaters of Maryland's Chesapeake Bay.
This ten-second exposure was timed to allow the locomotive's headlight to illuminate the power masts
and the architecture of the bridge's center span. Arcing can be seen just before the center span, where the locomotive's pantograph has momentarily lost and re-established contact with the 12 Kilovolt overhead line.

Even more fascinating than shot No. 2, maybe it´s the headlight illuminating the scene at the most important spot!BG, Tom
