Nine roofs at Pura Gunung Lebah

Pura Gunung Lebah Temple is one of Ubud’s central landmarks. The 8th century temple is at the western end of the Jalan Raya Ubud main road. It overlooks the eastern side of Ubud’s Campuhan valley. Hence, its name loosely translates to ‘mountain valley temple’ in old Balinese. It dates to the times of the historical Hindu priest Rsi Markandeya. The historical figure is responsible for building most of the major temples on the island. Gunung Lebah is free to visit. It's most colourful during its ‘Piodalan’ temple anniversary. This occurs every 210 days on a ‘Wuku Sinta’ Wednesday on the Balinese Pakuwon calendar. The day coincides with the Pagerwesi Day celebrations in Bali.
