Average depth : 94 meters

The Dogger Bank is a vast sandbank around the middle of the North Sea where many bones of mammoths have been found.
In 2006 a special shaped bone fragment was found while drilling for oil. Analysis indicated that it was originating from a Plateosaurus from about 200 million years ago.
This was the deepest finding of a dinosaur fossil ever.

Over 230 species of fish live in the North Sea.
Tens of millions of birds make use of the North Sea for breeding, feeding or migratory stopovers every year.
This sea is also home to marine mammals. Mainly common seals and harbour porpoises can be found along the coasts. Bottlenose dolphins vary in number from year to year.
