SHARING THE CATCH

My previous two up-loads ( “First Light” and “Pulling the Nets”) were about the hard work of Vietnamese fishermen on the beach of Mui Ne to pull their net out of the sea. Today, it’s about the rewards from their labour.

While they were pulling the nets, they did not speak to each other. Once they could see what they caught, the tension seemed to stop and there was a lot of chattering and excitement. Judging by their faces they were happy and satisfied.

In my ignorance/wishful thinking, I had imagined they would bring a lot of fish on the beach. There were only a few fish, cuttlefish, small crabs …etc…

All the people who were involved shared the catch and went away in a matter of a few minutes. As I walked back to my hotel, I could see many other groups of people in the process of pulling their nets or busy tidying them up, repairing them and carrying them to the boats so they could be ready for the next time they go fishing.

I like the reflection in the wet sand as well as the colours and the early morning light.

Thank you for your comments and support. Such a nice feeling to have many people interested in seeing different aspects of Vietnam.

Wonderful light that you have caught here. And I believe that they where happy just with the few fish.
We have realized that the Vietnam people are satisfied with very small things.
    Great pic.
