On a quiet lake in central Ontario, Canada,
these stumps give evidence to the often
indiscriminate practices of the logging companies.
Note the water level indicators on the tree stumps.
This is a lake without motorboats - for obvious reasons!

    Thanks, Thomas:
    It's a dammed-up lake, very suitable for canoeing,
    but because of the many roots (there used to be
    a woodlot there, which was cut down) no good
    for motorboats - thank God!
