Teachers On Strike
Strongsville City Scholls Teachers on Strike. The teachers are the 19th highest paid teachers in the state, only pay 10% of their healthcare premiums and work about 200 days out of the year. Average salary for a teacher in Strongsville is about $66,000 with some making as much as $90,000. They have a very good retirement plan that they don't contribute to, it is all paid by the school district. The tax payers in the community support the schools through property tax.
Finally the school board is saying enough is enough.

concentration on the focused theme .... great pic, Ken!regarding your words in below, I really can feel the dismay about such kind of acting.... can't understand it either!
the step back to "normal" is the difficult one, esp. in social achievements like pension funds, you did not contribute to up to now ....
cheers from Bernd

It is the same [or similar] here........people go on strike for more money when the whole world is in debt.....but in debt to who.......someone out there must be extreem;y rich. BUT WHO........it certainly is not ordinery people such as we.An excellent shot.

Good story... I say more power to the workers who did not cause the economic collapse but are expected to pay for it,while the guilty bankers go free with big fat bonuses...don`t let em fool you!Carlo.Pollaci 06/03/2013 22:22
Incisive pictures: document the difficult current situation for workers.Lawson McCulloch 06/03/2013 19:53
They should realise now is not the time to strike, when so many people have no job at all.best wishes,

Interesting to see the info behind the scene :-)) HaroldJanos Gardonyi 06/03/2013 17:01
hey Ken, this is becoming a dispute as some of your audience are non-Americans and simply don't understand your situation. Here in Ontario it's much the same story:overpaid, fat teachers, early retirement & fat pensions. The quality of teaching is all time low, kids can't spell even at university level, can't add two numbers, don't get me started.....

my wife was a teacher.. (she's retired now)...
I'd say she was worth every penny.. and more...
many don't really see or experience what a teacher really does... but a husband does

In the worlds economic free fall now nice of them. Millions without any work at all !Most teachers do a great job, but these facts do not help their case. good documentary picture
