The Abyss and beyond...Grand Canyon

"The Abyss" is a side canyon to the Colorado River canyon. A 3000 foot (5000 m) sheer drop to the Tonto Platform exposes a clear cross section of the upper layers of rock. As the chasm widens you get a view of the main canyon in the distance that is framed on either side by the steep walls of 'The Abyss'.

This overlook lies about 1 mile west of Mohave Point, on Hermit Road, west of the Grand Canyon village.

A great picture! In 1997 I was with my Son by the
Grand Canyon. It was wonderful.

The abyss has something negative for me the GC ofcourse not, altough it''s a harsh place, but very beautiful
