The Living Forest (208) : Seed
Every year in autumn, the last stage in the life of a Welted Thistle produces beautiful structures.
After flowering is finished and before dying, plants produce a lot of seeds to secure the next generation of its species.
Those seeds can be carried long distances by the wind.
Dutch name : Kruldistel

the thistle - beautiful in all its stages, and the soft seed ball not easy to photograph so well ... a fine macro capture, and I like the balance with the patch of soft yellow to the right !!greetings, Adele

here it is! finally! the thistle that carries my name! and rightfully so, as i'm wearing the exact same haircut, since my hairstylist quit and went back to school last year… ; )) don't you worry, thistle, i'm just kidding. on you it looks wispily lovely! the sofness of the seeds obviously belies the prickly defensiveness of the rest of the plant! great composition, by the way, with the cluster of yellow blossoms in the blurry back! greetings, sabine.
