The Living Forest (305) : Great Tit

The Great Tit is a well known and widespread bird throughout Europe, the Middle East, Central & Northern Asia and parts of North Africa.

This bird is most commonly found in open deciduous woodland and forest edges. In dense forests however it is usually absent.
But the Great Tit is also very well adapted to the human environment and became a common and familiar bird in urban parks and gardens.

My shot was taken at the end of the day in hazy soft twilight, hence the somewhat special coloured background.

Dutch name : Koolmees
German name : Kohlmeise
Latin name : Parus major

Ein sehr schönes Foto der Kohlmeise. Die Brustfarbe des Vogels erscheint mir hingegen ein wenig zu grell gelb.

a couple of his relatives are this year's tenants of our nesting box! as the nesting box was originally built for the smaller blue tit, they had to enlarge the entry hole – construction noise for days in a row – knock, knock, knock, knock! –, then some triumphant tweets – ta-tee, ta-tee, ta-tee! – and they were all set. now they are comfortably settled and hatching… cute, how this one is perched on its twig – quite a big-foot, the little fella! ; )) enjoy your easter vacation, dear mark! greetings, sabine.
