Einfacher geht's nicht! Ich fische einen Fluß, dessen Ufer dicht bewachsen sind. Hier krabbele ich durch wie ein echter Indianer und verliere natürlich Unmengen von Fliegen pro Saison. Schön wenn der Verlust nicht allzu teuer ist (Ja - ich bin tatsächlich Schotte). Das Muster habe ich selbst erfunden und binde sie aus Hasenfell-Mischung und schönem orangenen Kupferdraht, den ich aus irgendeinem kaputten elektronischen Gerät gewonnen habe. Ich habe immer die Augen auf beim Shopping/Stöbern. Ich benutze keine Seide zum Binden.

Nach meiner Erfahrung kann man die Wirkung dieser Fliege dramatisch erhöhen, wenn man während des Drifts ein Geräusch wie ein Bachflohkrebs macht.

Here's a pattern that's simplicity itself. A real minimalist tie to make Oliver Edwards squirm. I have a season ticket on a very wooded stream and like to creep around like a Red Indian (or is Native American more politically correct?) hiding behind the bushes and trees and whatnot. This approach leads to the loss of a great many flies per season, so I try to keep the dressings simple. The fish don't seem to mind.

Basically it's lovely orange wire that I gathered like a magpie from some defunct electronic device. I tie this fly without silk, forming a dubbing loop with the wire, which I cover with tacky wax then dub on a blend in the appropriate colour.

Nowadays you can buy wire in a range of colours making, e.g. heavy grayling bugs a doddle. In my mind the "sacrificial fly" that should take the leader to the riverbed should't cost an arm and a leg if it really is sacrificed!.

I've found that the effectiveness of this pattern is greatly increased if you also make a sound like a water louse.
