The pier in Mandraki
Mandraki a tiny and very colorful little port is the capital town of Nisiros and has as highlight a pier, extending from the entrance of the port to far end where a stony footpath starts leading to the monastery on top of the rock. Along this pier unfolds a magic reel of scenes that frame the best cadre of the town. At first sight this elegant pier looks so fragile and so poorly protected from the waves that, menacingly raised by the almost daily blowing vulgar Aegean wind make a frothy splash on its external barrier. And yet not only stands there defiantly but also offers lovely relaxing moments to all those that in the evening select either to walk all the distance along to its end mounting then to the monastery or sit in one of the cafes over a drink letting their glance to linger on the far depth of the open sea.
